Landed in private property, but got the ranch owner’s permission to recover. The sonde was hanging close to the ground in a tree. The line and balloon remnants were draped over a branch. There was no parachute! Quick recovery. Glad to be able to find one with my dad—former NWS forecaster.

I parked on the east side of the road. Looking west, I didn't see sonde or balloon which should have been quite close to the road in a bare field. Decided to walk out and look, saw nothing. Did someone recover it already. As I walked back to the road, I noticed a string hanging from the hydro wires. There was the sonde in a shallow grass ditch beside the pole. String was over the road with small balloon remnant in the field east of where I parked.I cut the string, got the sonde and left the rest behind .
