Radiosonde A1104CDC recovered by Daphne

After a challenging hike up a steep hill in moderately thick underbrush, was able locate the sonde hanging down from a tree at its landing site of 35.38235 -84.26291. My 25’ pole just barely reached it, fortunately I was able to wrap it tightly enough so I could pull hard to break the string. The white parachute is still entangled in the top of a very tall tree. Thankfully the University of Alabama’s Severe Weather Institute used a very long breakable string instead of the usual thicker one the NWS uses. Otherwise this would have been a failed recovery.
