Radiosonde X4424237 recovered by WindTurbine73
As there was a business at this property, I was able to email and get permission a couple of days ago. As this one was only 300 feet behind a barn, I thought it would be quick and easy. Boy was I wrong !The frost had gone from the top 2 inches, so mud was the first problem. There was one low spot in the field with 6 inches of water with ice on it. The sonde was on the far side. I went to it first, breaking through ice with every step. Sonde was on dry ground. However, the string had crossed this frozen lake and just as it reached the other side, turned 180 degrees and left the balloon back in the water. When the sonde landed a couple of days ago, there was no ice. So now string is under the ice, so I broke ice with my boots and followed string to the balloon. String was covered with ice chunks and mud, as was I !!!
